MJH Travel Consulting
Helping people create thoughtful and imaginative journeys to destinations in Europe and the Middle East.

With passion and excitement, I help clients imagine travel programs that are exceptional, rich, inspiring, and transformative. I have been blessed with many opportunities - having lived in Rome for five years, taught religion and ethics at the university level for 40+ years, and worked twenty-five years in the travel business, helping educational, religious, and institutional leaders lead rich and successful journeys to destinations around the world.
I serve as a consultant, content expert, and liaison between group organizers and local tour operators in Europe and Israel. Collaboratively, we develop an itinerary and scope of services. That is submitted to the local tour operator who generates a proposal with costs and a detailed scope of services. Once the proposal is accepted, I work with the group organizer and tour operator to develop promotional materials, registration links, and other helpful information for prospective participants. Throughout the process, I facilitate interaction between the tour operator and the group.
Drawing on my European roots, I am excited to help craft itineraries that showcase local culture - whether that be art, food, wine, history, or traditions.
As a professor, I understand the passion of educators who want travel to be enlightening and help sojourners connect with history and ideas. I know how to weave together curriculum with travel services and activities, resulting in programs that deliver learning while running smoothly.
Over the years, I have had the privilege of working with organizational leaders who use travel as a way to help trustees and benefactors connect with institutional heritage and return with new insights and energy to advance their mission.
Travel often includes a personal quest. We leave that which is familiar and return changed by our experience. I appreciate the role of traditional pilgrimages as well as other forms of spiritual travel to inspire and foster transformation.
As an author, I appreciate how travel connects us to stories - to the people, places, and events that shaped our world. Local expert guides bring these events and people to life. Their stories become our stories and help us make better sense of our current age.
One of my specialties is helping people organize travel to Rome to explore the intersection of ancient Rome, early Christianity, and Renaissance Rome.
For groups that want to foster understanding between Jewish, Christian, and Muslim traditions, programs to Southern Spain are particularly impactful.
Toledo, Granada, Cordova, and Seville are rich with sites that invite exploration of religious architecture, art, traditions, beliefs, worship, and models of interfaith relations.
